Dear Friends of Ambiente,

Thirty-Six Years ago, a young couple immigrated to the USA from Germany, curious about how it would feel like to live there. They drove into Seattle on a sunny Friday in May, with 4 bags in the trunk and a few thousand Dollars in the bank. One year later they started Ambiente European Tile Design.

In the beginning Ambiente was primarily a tile installation business. Soon after the first Showroom for Tile and Stone was added. Over the next decade Ambiente Tile grew to have Showrooms in Seattle, Lynnwood and Bellevue, employing 45 people in Sales Design, Installation and Administration. Starting in 1999, Ambiente developed close relationships with Premier Art Tile manufacturers in North America, representing their exquisite products. At the same time Ambiente Tile started to import tiles directly from Germany and Italy and added a large warehouse in Georgetown.

We at Ambiente are extremely proud of all the beautiful projects we were involved in and all the wonderful Clients, Vendors, Manufacturers, Contractors, Designers and Architects we collaborated with, many of whom have become our friends. Together we designed and created countless bathrooms, kitchens, fireplaces, floors, patios, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, schools, glass tile pools and hot tubs. We even installed tile in RV’s and sold and installed our products on Mega Yachts. At national and international tile shows, Ambiente Tile won many awards and much recognition for our design work and sales achievement. Always on the leading edge of the industry, we introduced modern design ideas and innovative materials, many of which were “green” products. Our professional installation team installed tile artistically, reliably and with great competence. Many contractors and clients sought us out explicitly to work on their high end and demanding projects. As times were changing and economic and other challenges affected our industry, we adapted and changed our business model. Thanks to our many long term and dedicated employees, we weathered all storms.

Knowing that everything must come to an end, we are announcing with immense pride and heartfelt sadness that Ambiente is winding down its business activities over the next few weeks. As the saying goes “It is better to burn out, than to fade away”. We feel this is the right time to move on to new things, knowing how much we have accomplished.

Carla and I want to thank the hundreds of employees who worked at Ambiente Tile over the 35years, for their great work and dedication. Getting to know and work with each of you was wonderful and made every day interesting. We consider many of you good friends. We also want to thank all our clients, collaborators and everyone who helped and supported us. It truly took a village to keep Ambiente going and it was a privilege to have you in our lives. Tile and Stone endure a long time and so will the many projects we created together. They will stand to remind us of all the good times.

Ambiente Tile will continue to operate until all orders are completed. If you are working on a project that is close to ordering and want to place an order contact your Sales Designer. We will still be able to take certain orders for a limited time. However, we will not sample or work on new projects
